PSA (prostate-specific antigen) is a protein produced by healthy cells in the prostate—a small gland located just below the bladder in males. As men age, the prostate naturally enlarges, and it’s normal for PSA levels to gradually rise. However, prostate cancer can also cause PSA levels to increase, so measuring PSA can be a useful screening tool.

Why take this test?
This at-home PSA test measures the level of PSA in your blood to check whether it is raised. A PSA blood test can help detect prostate cancer before symptoms appear and may identify fast-growing cancers at an early, more treatable stage.

Regular testing may be particularly useful if you're at increased risk—for example, if you have a family history of prostate cancer. For those already diagnosed, PSA testing can help monitor disease progression or response to treatment.

Important to know
A raised PSA level does not necessarily mean you have prostate cancer. PSA can rise for other reasons, including benign prostate enlargement, inflammation, or recent physical activity.

If your PSA level is only slightly raised, we recommend discussing your results with your doctor, who may suggest repeating the test after a few weeks. If PSA levels remain elevated, or if you're experiencing symptoms such as frequent urination, your doctor may refer you to a specialist for further assessment.

It’s also important to understand that not all prostate cancers are aggressive—some may never require treatment.
