Elastase is a digestive enzyme produced by the exocrine tissue of the pancreas and released into the small intestine. This test measures the level of pancreatic elastase in your stool to assess how well your pancreas is functioning.

Because elastase passes through the digestive system without being broken down, its concentration in stool provides a reliable indicator of exocrine pancreatic function. Low levels may suggest conditions such as chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic insufficiency, or cystic fibrosis.

This test can help identify a disruption in enzyme production by the pancreas and support the diagnosis of digestive disorders linked to enzyme deficiency.

We’ll send you a stool test kit with full instructions.
Results are typically available within 2–3 weeks.
