World-renowned human biologist Gary Brecka emphasises the critical role of identifying elevated homocysteine levels in managing long-term health. In fact, by addressing high homocysteine in UFC president Dana White, Brecka was able to support a dramatic improvement in his projected life expectancy, which had been reduced to just 10 years.

This advanced blood test offers a functional assessment of how common genetic variations (SNPs)—specifically MTHFR, MS, and CBS—are being expressed in the body. It does so by analysing plasma levels of key methylation and detoxification metabolites, including methionine, cysteine, SAM, SAH, homocysteine, adenosine, and cystathionine. The test also provides a critical Methylation Index, represented by the ratio of SAM to SAH, which reflects the efficiency of your methylation cycle.

Healthy methionine metabolism is essential for processes like methylation, transsulfuration, and folate-dependent transmethylation—all vital for cellular health, detoxification, and genetic expression. Disruptions in this cycle can affect individuals of any age and are commonly linked to genetic mutations, nutritional deficiencies, ageing, or environmental toxin exposure.

This test requires a venous blood draw. If you need help locating a phlebotomist in your area, please don’t hesitate to contact us for assistance.
