The Kryptopyrroles (KRYP) - Urine Test is a diagnostic, functional medicine tool used to measure the levels of a compound called hydroxyhemopyrrolin-2-one (HPL) in the urine, formerly known as kryptopyrrole or the "mauve factor". This test identifies pyroluria (also known as pyrrole disorder or KPL), a metabolic condition characterised by the excessive excretion of pyrroles, which binds to and depletes crucial nutrients, particularly Zinc and Vitamin B6

If you do not select the Lab Results Only package, then In addition to your lab report we provide the following options which are INCLUDED in the package prices:

A) Follow up personalised written report produced by our clinical team highlighting dietary and lifestyle advice plus links to supplement protocols, specific doses and any further testing requirements. We use the patient information you provide us at checkout along with your results to compile personalised action points for you.

B) Follow up 30-minute video call to discuss your results and answer any questions you have. Once the lab has completed your results you will be sent these via email with a link to book a time and day online. You will also then be given the option to upgrade your 30-minute call to a 45-minute call for an additional £30 if you wish. During the call your practitioner will explain the results in more detail and what they mean for you. After your call you are sent a personalised list of supplements & the dose your practitioner advises with links to purchase from our supplements store.

C) Both Zoom call and written report with personalised next steps (Zoom call is first and written report follows).

This test is suitable for when patient’s exhibit symptoms like anxiety, depression, poor stress tolerance, white spots on nails, or "brain fog". High levels of pyroluria suggest a need for nutritional intervention to correct the underlying deficiencies.

Patient preparation: No special preparation is required, and the patient can continue to take nutritional supplements and medication before the collection of the sample.

Specimen requirements: A first-morning mid-stream urine sample is required (the sample should be protected from light at all opportunities). If there is any delay before returning sample please refrigerate the black container & sample until posting. To ensure sample stability and timely processing, we advise samples should reach the laboratory within 48 hours of collection. Sample stability – 5 days (Protect from light)

Posting your sample: Your kit is posted to you from the UK within 24–48 hours of ordering so you should receive your test kit within a few days via Royal Mail. Please post your sample back using the freepost Royal Mail.
